It was about a year ago that we were wondering whether Buffalo's gamble on Terrell Owens wound pay off. A year later, we have the answer: Not so much. Let alone pursue him in free agency, the Bills won't even offer Terrell Owens a contract. From SB Nation's Buffalo Rumblings:
Experiment, Failed: Buffalo Says Goodbye To Terrell Owens
For Owens, it’s the end of a one-year marriage gone wrong. One of the most decorated receivers in NFL history, Owens struggled in 2009 as a Bill, hauling in 55 passes for 829 yards, with five touchdowns. Owens’ biggest accomplishment in his one year in Buffalo was recording his 1,000th reception in a Week 16 loss to Atlanta. He’ll be one of the biggest names available via free agency this year.
In fairness to Owens, the quarterbacks throwing him the ball in Buffalo weren’t exactly spectacular. Now, he’ll hit the free agent market to find yet another home. TO has been linked to Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and Baltimore, among others. NFL free agency begins March 5th.
