Minnesota GM Kahn Speaks; Jefferson Suspended Two Games Without Pay
In light of today’s early-morning DWI arrest for Minnesota forward Al Jefferson, GM David Kahn has released a statement to the press. From NBA.com:
In the absence of other details, hearing that nobody was hurt is certainly good news. And while some people may take issue with the length of the suspension, rest assured that the bigger issue here is the pay; Jefferson makes $12 million this year, so two games’ pay is almost $300,000--$292,682.93, to be precise. Ouch.

The Star-Tribune’s account of the incident is scarce; we don’t have a mugshot or a breathalyzer reading or any other sordid details, for example. For Jefferson’s sake, we hope those details are sufficiently mundane that this incident doesn’t become a hindrance on what should be a very productive career.
The Timberwolves have yet to comment.
