Niklas Kronwall Loses An Edge

A penalty-kill is tiring enough when a player is on his feet. But what happens when he is literally performing on one leg? At first glance, it appears as though Niklas Kronwall re-aggravated his knee problems in San Jose however, a second look shows that his blade broke free from the skate. Helpless and immobile, Kronwall was fortunate that Douglas Murray took an interference penalty to end the powerplay shortly after and allow him to receive repairs.

↵The Swedish defenseman tweaked his knee in the first period as a result, didn’t play in the final frame and will miss today’s match with the Anaheim Ducks. Day-to-day for the time being, Kronwall won’t join the Red Wings until Saturday against Los Angeles at the earliest.
