Football players need to spend an inordinate amount of time studying game film and strategy, so perhaps their time is not best allocated reading up on the treasured customs of the rival fan base, or even those belonging to colleges located near the city in which they play.↵

Dallas Clark is Not Aware of Your Cultural Customs

↵
↵Still, not being aware of such things is bound to rile someone up, even if it has little to do with what transpires on the field.↵Asked this morning if he was familiar with the Saints’ “Who Dat” chant that was recently unfettered from the corporate interests of the NFL, Dallas Clark replied, “I have heard that. I have no idea what it means. No reason to care. That’s not a good thing, I don’t think. I’m sure that’s a good thing for them so hopefully we don’t hear it too much. I don’t know the story behind what that’s about.”↵
↵
↵Probably not the most egregious oversight ever. After all, how many people outside New Orleans really knew the origin of the chant prior to the team’s playoff run. Though for Clark to dismiss “Who Dat” wholesale as “not a good thing” is an amusing exercise in absolutism.↵

Not that a segment of the Colts fan base won’t have reason to be disappointed in his ignorance. Apparently the folks at Indiana State sent Clark a shirt in appreciation of his play on the field. Dallas, as much as could be expected, was appreciative.↵↵⇥“Yeah, they sent it to me and I just love supporting anything with the state of Indiana because of all the great fans and what they support us for. So I got sent that shirt and I wore it under my practice jersey. I didn’t realize you could actually see it but a reporter from Terre Haute saw it. You’ve got to support everything that has to do with Indiana and the sports. Obviously, I bleed black and gold as a (Iowa) Hawkeye, but there is a respect line for the Indiana schools too.”↵↵Yeah, Indiana! Gotta support the home state! Say, Dallas, what is it you love most about Indiana State?↵↵⇥“Larry Bird. That’s about the only thing I know and that it’s in Terre Haute. We don’t like that place because that’s where we have camp. Camp is just not a good topic right now, so let’s talk about something else.”↵↵Ouf. Well, uh, at least they gave you that shirt.↵
