Columbus Blue Jackets Fire Coach Ken Hitchcock

After three and a half seasons, the Columbus Blue Jackets have fired head coach Ken Hitchcock. The Blue Jackets had just one winning season under Hitchcock, going 41-31-10 in 2008-09 before losing in the first round of the playoffs.

This season, Columbus was struggling at 14th in the West and it had long been speculated that the team was playing for Hitchcock’s job. The Blue Jackets briefly pulled together to start January but have gone 4-6-0 in their past ten games and lost whatever chance they had at pulling out a playoff run.
