Oh, for the love of ... look, Lindsey Vonn is a skier and regulation hottie and made the cover of Sports Illustrated. There’s a women-oriented sports site all het up because she’s bent over on the cover, like a skiier:
Lindsey Vonn On The Cover Of Sports Illustrated Is Not Setting Women Back. Relax.
↵When females are featured on the cover of SI, they are more likely than not to be in sexualized poses and not in action-and the most recent Vonn cover is no exception.
↵... except that as a woman and skiier myself, I feel pretty safe saying that this is about the least-provocative way SI could have gone about this cover, and that it’s the women themselves who come off as uncomfortable with Vonn being incredibly athletic and totally bangin’ at the same time. Oh, and it’s Sports Illustrated, where the Swimsuit Issue is about as American as truck races and fireworks. You don’t take on SI to make changes. You take it on for attention. (Attention that I’m currently giving this non-cause, but only long enough for me to roll my eyes.)
