Alexander Semin Puts Himself, Puck Into Own Net

Alexander Semin can shrug off his mistake which resulted in a fluke goal because Washington is on a 13-game winning streak becoming the hottest team in the NHL. The Russian turned the puck over on a powerplay handing Rich Peverley a shorthanded breakaway that goaltender Michal Neuvirth stopped. A back-checking Semin lost his footing sliding feet first into his net pushing the puck past the goal line.

↵That would bring Atlanta within two goals but that is as close as they would get eventually losing by a 5-2 scoreline. When you’re winning every game with amazing input from the offense, you may feel inclined to hand the opponent a consolation goal every now and then.
