Coming into the weekend Chael Sonnen had turned the “character” up to 11 with non stop trash talking of some of the best fighters in the planet. With many people calling for heavy favorite Nate Marquardt to shut his mouth Chael kept giving off vibes that he’d show everyone something.

What he did show was that he has much better wrestling than Nate “The Great.” Repeatedly throughout three rounds Sonnen was able to secure quick takedowns and spend several minutes at a time on top landing big punches and elbows to the face.
Despite being opened up by an elbow off the bottom, Sonnen continued to work his game and pound away en route to three scorecards which all read 30-27 for the Oregon native.
