After news broke a few weeks ago that Steven Jackson had been charged with domestic abuse, the Rams’ star running back was quick to strongly assert his innocence in the case. And now, it seems, Las Vegas authorities agree. From CBS Sports:
No Charges Will Be Filed Steven Jackson Domestic Abuse Case
Las Vegas police Officer Barbara Morgan said Tuesday that detectives talked to everyone involved, the investigation is complete, and the case is closed.
Morgan says there’s insufficient evidence to seek criminal charges. She says a police report filed in LaPlace, La., by Supriya Harris, 29, of Mableton, Ga., won’t be immediately released.
It should be noted that the accusations were made almost a year after the alleged incident, and at a time when the accuser was embroiled in a battle over child support payments with Steven Jackson. Did making false, very public allegations of abuse help her case? Time will tell, but something tells me that Steven Jackson just gained some leverage in that child support case.
