Being an Orioles Ballboy is Serious Business

Overprotective parents fret about their kids getting into the right private schools, the most prestigious universities, the best internships. Why? It’s simple: because the Baltimore Orioles won’t take just anybody as a ballboy. They want to see credentials, professionalism, references, possibly letters of recommendation. Just look at their tryout procedure.

Men and women at least 18 years old are asked to wear business casual attire and bring a resume with them.↵↵↵“What’s that? You didn’t go to a school with a nationally ranked baseball retrieval program? What are you even doing here? Maybe you confused this for the Frederick Keys’ stadium?” ↵

↵↵Prospective ballboys and ballgirls should also be comfortable around firearms, because apparently designated hitter Luke Scott has been bringing a gun to the clubhouse for years now, unbeknownst to all. As everyone who commented on the Gilbert Arenas fiasco knows, that puts every last person in the stadium in clear and present danger. Hope you have crisis prevention experience on that resume, ballboy.↵
