Head basketball coach Jeff Lebo has been shown the door at Auburn after a quick exit from the SEC Tournament capped another disappointing season. Athletics Director Jay Jacobs made the call after Lebo went 96-93 as Tigers head coach over six seasons.
Jeff Lebo Out at Auburn
“Going into the meeting today, I knew what I needed to do,” Jacobs said.
Jacobs said no single thing contributed in his decision to replace Lebo.
“I just looked at the entire six-year period,” he said.
Auburn’s only postseason appearance with Lebo at the helm was in the NIT.
Jacobs said he does have a “short list” of candidates, hopefully including some names that won’t get him heckled when he returns to Auburn.
