The Anaheim Ducks were without the services of Ryan Getzlaf and Teemu Selanne towards the end of Sunday's win over the San Jose Sharks as both left the game due to injuries. After scoring his 599th career goal within ten minutes of the opening whistle, Selanne lost his balance early in the third period while trying to receive a pass from teammate Saku Koivu.
Ducks’ Teemu Selanne, Ryan Getzlaf Both Injured; Will Be Evaluated Monday
He fell heavily into the boards and remained on the ice for several minutes before heading to Anaheim’s dressing room on his own. The Finnish Flash didn’t return and will undergo further tests today with what has been described as an upper-body injury.
Getzlaf appeared to have re-injured the left ankle that he sprained prior to the Olympic break by colliding with Ryane Clowe. The 24-year-old did return but not for long as another collision caused his withdrawal. Listed as day-to-day, Getzlaf will also be evaluated today to determine the severity of his injury.
