Andre Agassi is real, real sorry about his live-air pissantry with Pete Sampras the other night. You can tell by reading the trajectory of his apology as delivered to Rick Reilly:
Andre Agassi Is Really (Not) Sorry (At All)
↵“It was inappropriate. The night was on fire. We were all having fun. I was trying to be comedic. I only had a split second to make a decision. I went for it and it fell flat. I was trying to get past it, but Pete didn’t really let me get past it. He didn’t really roll with it. I’ve texted Pete to ask him if I can apologize in person.”↵See how it starts off in generalities, which make him sound sincere, and then just sort of rolls downhill? Andre is sorry (that Pete didn’t roll with his joke), that much is clear. The viewing public, meanwhile, remains sorry that Sampras didn’t pull from the wealth of material available in Agassi’s published works when searching for a retort.
