Sam Wyche The Latest To Stump For Tebow

Tim Tebow is easily the most divisive player in this year’s NFL Draft. Many assume he will crash and burn, chortling at his unorthodox throwing motion and most recently his reported low score on the Wonderlic test. His defenders come in many forms, but all of them staunch. They say Tebow is possessed of an ineffable, innate quality that translates to success at every level. ↵↵Former Bengals and Bucs head coach Sam Wyche is decidedly in the latter category. Speaking yesterday at the 11th annual Earl Morrall/NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic, Wyche was adamant that Tebow would be so successful that one day we will look back and wonder why we ever doubted him.↵

↵↵⇥“This is the most grounded guy I’ve been around in a long time. I don’t know where these comments are coming from. Maybe folks are trying to blow smoke (trying to affect his draft position).↵⇥↵⇥”(Tebow) will probably spend one year as a backup, be included in the offense on a limited basis. I predict in year two, he’ll be somebody’s starting quarterback on a winning team.↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥“Ten years from now we’ll be talking about, ‘How many years now has Tebow been in the Pro Bowl?’”↵⇥

↵↵↵Not quite as bold as Mel Kiper’s famed proclamation that he would see doubters at Lions receiver Mike Williams’s Hall of Fame induction, but a brash statement nonetheless. Not only does he foresee personal success for Tebow, but the quarterback will instantly transform whichever team takes him into a winner. Oh, and he might cure cancer with his smile. Wyche is still undecided on that one.↵
