James Wisniewski Takes A Long Run At Brent Seabrook

Everyone who has shared their thoughts in debating the hits by Matt Cooke and Alexander Ovechkin can turn their attention to a new case. Anaheim Ducks defenseman James Wisniewski is the culprit and Chicago Blackhawks rearguard Brent Seabrook is the victim. Of course, Corey Perry was in the middle of it all.

↵

↵Wisniewski was handed five minutes for the ensuing fight with Duncan Keith and two minutes for charging. Seabrook didn’t return to the game after skating back to the Blackhawks bench. Wisniewski, who was suspended in November for two games after launching a forearm to Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan’s head, is a repeat offender and that can only hurt his fate.

↵According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, Wisniewski is guilty of charging, interference, boarding and intent to payback Seabrook for his check on Perry. Colin Campbell will have a talk with him today about the incident. His decision should be an easy one but it’s obvious Campbell enjoys doing things the hard way.

↵UPDATE: ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun is reporting that Wisniewski will be getting an eight-game suspension for this hit on Seabrook. Will this finally mean that Campbell and the League have had enough of these hits? Only time will tell.
