NCAA Tournament Bracket Update: A Mid-Major Minefield
↵
↵What sticks out is the number of mid-major schools that have advanced thus far. Eight of the 16 winners on Thursday came from non-BCS conferences. Of course, we were guaranteed at least four mid-major winners based on the match-ups, but three of the other four that moved on did so by upsetting a high-major school. Parity! It’s the buzzword of the season and it’s showing itself so far in March.
↵Today’s schedule -- which you can see in the CBS widget below -- gives us a realistic possibility for seven more mid-majors to move on to the round of 32 with New Mexico State, Houston, Gonzaga, Xavier, Siena, Utah State all capable of winning, plus the guaranteed mid-major from the Temple-Cornell contest.
