Justin Upton Signs Six-Year Contract With Diamondbacks

Earlier today, Ken Rosenthal reported that Justin Upton and Arizona were close in negotiations. Now, according to Bob Nightengale, there’s an agreement in place:

Justin Upton's six-year contract extension is scheduled to be announced Wednesday in Tucson, Ariz.

Upton was one of the best players in baseball last year at the tender age of 21, and while there are concerns over his strikeout proneness, he’s so good at everything else that the overall package is phenomenal. There’s little reason why Upton shouldn’t go on to be one of the true stars of the game, and Arizona has locked him up through the majority of what should be an exceptional peak.
