Future Adulterers of the World Benefit From Tiger Woods

If there is anyone who will benefit from the Tiger Woods saga, it is the mistresses who have sold the tawdry details of their encounters to the press. Oh, and a glibly moralizing media that will be capitalizing on the attention for some time. Wait, wait, there’s more. How about subsequent technological innovations that enable cheaters to cover the tracks of their indiscretions? Yeah, they’ll benefit from it to, thanks to a new application that allows iPhone users to arrange a timed delete of their text messages.↵↵⇥The new application for the iPhone – coincidentally called TigerText – allows senders to put a timed delete on messages.↵⇥↵⇥It then wipes forever the message from the mobile that sent it, the receiving handset and server.↵⇥
↵⇥↵⇥TigerText founder Jeffrey Evans, who chose the name before the Woods scandal, said: “For the first time, you have complete control over what happens to texts after you hit send.”↵⇥
↵↵↵I’m a little leery of the claim that the name predated the Tiger Woods saga. Why name it after a tiger? Because they are supposed to be furtive creatures? Moreover, for the application to even work, both the sender and recipient of the offending texts must have iPhones with the TigerText app installed. Unless this program is a runaway hit, that may limit its usefulness for the vast majority of the populace. Still, a determined cheater will find a way to make it work.↵
