Greg Biffle Apologizes For Mark Martin Wreck

During Sunday’s Bristol race, Greg Biffle ran Mark Martin into the wall and spoiled the Hendrick Motorsports driver’s day (Martin finished 35th).

↵What gives, Biff?

↵“I owe an apology to Mark Martin,” Biffle said after the race. “It sounds stupid because everybody makes an excuse, but I was having trouble with my radio. That whole run, I didn’t have a radio and I didn’t know he was on the outside of me and I ran him into the fence.

↵“I feel bad, but I didn’t know he was there.”

↵If it sounds fishy, it’s not. During the race itself, Biffle was so confused by what had just happened that he radioed his team to say there was no damage on the car he just hit.

↵But after his spotter insisted “Mark hit the wall,” Biffle sounded surprised.

↵“What you’re saying is Mark Martin was behind me?” Biffle asked. “Was he on my outside?”

↵Turns out that because of the radio issue, Biffle thought the team had been talking about contact with Jeff Burton.

↵Biffle finished fourth.
