Goalie Accounts For Distance and Wind Velocity Well
↵
↵I’ve always likened goalies scoring in soccer to pitchers hitting home runs in baseball. Except this 70-meter score from Dario Capogrosso, the keeper for Argentine second division team C.A.I., would like be a closer launching a 500-foot shot in the 9th. This goal from Saturday’s match against Gimnasia de Jujuy was doubly sweet, as it gave relegation-threatened C.A.I. a much-needed point in the standings. A little thanks must be extended to the wind for altering the shot’s trajectory enough to throw off the opposing goaltender, but Dario gets credit for being daring enough to go for the gusto in that situation. Perhaps in the future more goalies will bone up on the direction of jet streams.↵↵(H/T to Dirty Tackle)↵
