Some Think Raiders Are In The ‘Heaviest Pursuit’ For McNabb

And the future of Donovan McNabb is officially the hottest topic in the NFL today.

Reports have indicated the Bills, Raiders and Rams are interested in the 33 year old veteran quarterback. The feeling is that McNabb wouldn’t sign a long-term extension with Oakland (and he’s entering the final year of his contract), which would seemingly rule them out as trade partners.

However, NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports the Raiders interest continues.

Several executives on other clubs pointed to the Raiders as the team in heaviest pursuit.

It’s interesting that he cites other team executives as the source because there have been at least six teams reportedly connected to the McNabb situation, which would make you believe word has gotten around the league who is interested.

Though Oakland would likely prefer a long-term extension with McNabb in the event of a trade, past history has demonstrated that it’s not a necessity in Oakland.

The Raiders traded a first round pick to the Patriots last season for Richard Seymour, who was also entering the final year of his contract.
