Urban Meyer Would Prefer It If You Didn’t Print Things His Players Say

Especially if you’re the Orlando Sentinel’s Jeremy Fowler. Fowler printed UF receiver Deonte Thompson’s comments about Tim Tebow and “real quarterback” John Brantley on Monday. Thompson has since been taken to task in the media for his comments and Meyer decided that he needed to have a word or several with Fowler over the matter today.

↵↵“You’ll be out of practice — you understand that? — if you do that again,” Meyer said. “I told you five years ago: Don’t mess with our players. Don’t do it. You did it. You do it one more time and the Orlando Sentinel’s not welcome here ever again. Is that clear? It’s yes or no.” (finger pointing toward the face)

↵↵Fowler reiterated that he was only printing what Thompson said but expect things to be a little chippy between the local media and the Gators for a while. Can’t be good for the ol’ ticker.

↵UPDATE: Via SN, here’s video of the incident:
