Early reports regarding the trade rumors surrounding Eagles QB Donovan McNabb have indicated that Oakland or Buffalo is an unlikely destination because McNabb wouldn’t be willing to sign a contract extension as part of the deal.
McNabb May Be Receptive To Oakland Or Buffalo Trade After All
As we’ve said before, McNabb’s entering the final year of his contract so getting an extension would be a key point in any trade.
However, Sheil Kapadia of the Philadelphia Inquirer feels McNabb may not turn down a trade to Oakland or Buffalo after all.
Given everything we know about McNabb and his history here, I can’t see him putting up a fight if the price is right. Think about it. Andy Reid goes to him and his agent and says the Eagles want to pull the trigger on a deal that would send him to Oakland. Do you really think he’d say no right away? Do you think he’d rather play for a coach and a franchise that don’t want him? I don’t see it.
Kapadia goes on to speculate that money may win out in particular instance. McNabb will be turning 34 next season and a trade would perhaps be his last shot at a big money contract.
Though he’s reiterated his desire to stay in Philadelphia, Kapadia makes a good point -- money talks.
