Frank McCourt Reveals The NFL’s Dubious Desire For Chavez Ravine

Though currently entangled in a messy divorce proceeding in which his estranged wife is claiming co-ownership of the Dodgers, Frank McCourt has decided that now would be a good time to actively push for an NFL stadium to be built on top of parking lots adjacent to Dodger Stadium.↵↵⇥“There’s no question L.A. should have an NFL franchise,” he said. “It’s probably the worst-kept secret in Los Angeles that the NFL would love to be at Chavez Ravine. Other than that, I can’t comment right now.”↵↵↵Actually, the NFL would likely just prefer to get a franchise anywhere within that market. I find it unlikely that they prize that particular location as desirable as any other. While finding land to carve out of Dodger Stadium’s capacious parking lots won’t be all that difficult, the issue of transportation and gridlock is altogether another kind of problem. For while the presence of public transport is never particularly strong anywhere in Los Angeles, it’s particularly poor when it comes to Chavez Ravine. Frankly, had the NFL really wanted to move there, they would have done it five years ago when McCourt first floated the idea.↵

↵↵⇥Ask the Coliseum, Anaheim, Carson, the Coliseum, Hollywood Park, AEG, the Coliseum and the City of Industry. Actually if you have a plot of land in your backyard and the NFL hasn’t blown in your ear, you should feel offended.↵↵↵So while it’s entirely possible the NFL has given McCourt reason for giddy optimism, one might want to close out one bitter relationship before being spurned in another.↵
