There have been a couple of developments in the most recent sexual assault allegation against Ben Roethlisberger that have raised the suspicions of those who are following the case. This week, the lawyer representing Roethlisberger said that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation withdrew its request for a DNA sample from Ben Roethlisberger, for reasons unknown to the general public. Now a lawyer for Capital City nightclub, where the alleged sexual assault was said to have taken place, told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that security footage from the night of Roethlisberger was there has been accidentally overwritten.↵

↵↵The lawyer said the cops reviewed the footage the night of the alleged incident, but returned recently to collect it, only to find that the DVD system had automatically overwritten it, per standard procedure at the club. That leaves video footage taken by one of the members of the quarterback’s entourage as the only in possession by police.↵
↵↵What could this mean? This could be the result of the club owners trying to protect themselves from problems associated with the dissemination of footage of intoxicated underage individuals in the club. It could be a simple case of human error and sloppiness. It could be any number of things. No one will know for certain until the investigation is concluded.↵
↵↵Of course, there’s also a theory that a secret payment to the accuser has been made to make the case go away. Unfortunately, such speculation will likely persist until real answers are provided by the authorities, whenever that will be. ↵
↵↵UPDATE: TMZ reports Roethlisberger’s accuser will meet with police.↵
