Agent Talks About McNabb’s Status With The Eagles

Fletcher Smith, agent for Eagles QB Donovan McNabb, has gone on the record to the Philadelphia Daily News and said he has had no conversations with the Eagles about which teams his client would prefer to be traded to.

Your Eagletarian just talked to Donovan McNabb’s agent, Fletcher Smith, who said he has no reason to believe a trade is imminent, and says there have been no conversations with the Eagles about which teams the quarterback would or would not prefer to be traded to.

“If we get to that bridge, we’ll have to cross it,” said Smith, who said his client is holding up well under the torrent of speculation.

Smith also said because of McNabb’s long tenure with the team, he hopes the Eagles would talk to him before making any trades. Smith would likely be involved in most trade discussions anyway because teams presumably would want to sign McNabb to a contract extension if a deal were to go down.

However, Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports reports that the Raiders would not require an extension to make a deal happen.

He also disputed an ESPN report that McNabb had told coach Andy Reid on Thursday that he did not want to be traded.
