West Virginia Celebrates Elite Eight Berth With Kris Kross, Original Short Film
Last weekend, we had the first set of fun videos from West Virginia’s merry band of Mountaineers. Today, we have two more, both uploaded to TwitVid after last night’s win over Washington. That first one’s a dance routine-slash-recitation of the Kris Kross classic “Jump,” complete with multiple attempts at the robot (Chris Littmann connected that to Chappelle’s Show) and a half-hearted rendition of the John Wall Dance.
Then there’s the second video, which starts with a reference to Ali Farokhmanesh and Da’Sean Butler’s arm in a “cast,” then sort of runs off the rails to general scatterbrained hilarity. Bonus points to Butler for whatever voice he’s trying to do here -- I cannot listen to him for more than a couple seconds without cracking up -- and, while I won’t “spoil” the “plot,” there is a face made about a minute in that is even funnier than Butler speaking.
There have been more dominant and aesthetically pleasing runs to the Elite Eight, at least on the court. (The Mountaineers are 69-of-170 from the floor so far in this NCAA Tournament.) But this year’s West Virginia squad wins for Most Hysterical Hotel Room Videos.
