* Rory Markham weighed in at 177 pounds which, given the 1 pound non-title fight allowance, is 6 pounds heavy. According to Bloody Elbow, Rory has been fined $1,000 which will be paid to Diaz, not the commission.
A few takeaways:
- Matt Riddle is absolutely huge. He has turned into a very big 170 pounder.
- Frank Mir looks much bigger than Shane Carwin. I’d even go as far as to say that Carwin looked a bit “softer” than we’re used to seeing him. That isn’t to say he isn’t a huge man, but it did stand out. This doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have the strength advantage in the fight though.
- Dan Hardy is doing his best to come across as supremely confident but some tactics just come across as a touch lame. See: red contact lenses.
