UFC 111 Results: Shane Carwin Wins Interim Heavyweight Strap With KO Of Frank Mir

Shane Carwin proved that he is for real by destroying Frank Mir with a huge flurry of punches in the first round of their interim heavyweight title fight. Carwin was able to control Mir by putting his back into the cage and landing short punches.

Eventually Carwin was able to get enough space to land a series of very hard uppercuts that dropped the former UFC champion. Carwin followed him to the ground and continued to land heavy, heavy punches. Frank Mir went limp after a flurry and referee Dan Mirgliotta allowed him to take several more punches before calling an end to the bout.

With the win Carwin will meet UFC champion Brock Lesnar to crown the true king of the UFC heavyweight division.
