Chad Gaudin’s Oakland Contract Worth $700k
Right-hander Chad Gaudin will get $700,000 under his one-year contract with the Oakland Athletics and can earn $400,000 more in performance bonuses based on starts and $100,000 for relief appearances.
Gaudin and the Yankees agreed to a $2.95m contract to avoid arbitration in January, but Gaudin’s recent release entitled him to just a quarter of that amount. With Oakland, he’ll make a chunk of it back, but there’s no approaching the earlier sum.
The performance bonuses, per usual, are based on appearances. Adds the article:
His deal with Oakland calls for $25,000 apiece for 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 starts. He would get $50,000 each for 22, 24 and 26 starts and $100,000 for 30 starts. He also could earn $25,000 each for 40, 45, 50 and 55 relief appearances.
