Diamondbacks The fifth spot in the AZ rotation failed to clear up on Monday, after both Kevin Mulvey and Billy Buckner were used in an 11-3 loss to San Diego. Mulvey allowed eight runs in two innings (only three earned); Buckner gave up one hit in four innings, but it was a two-run homer. His spring ERA is significantly higher, but Mulvey’s peripherals are worse. It’s likely the roster won’t be finalized until Saturday.

Dodgers Looks like Los Angeles will have an 11-man pitching staff, at least for Opening Day, to help resolve a position-player crunch. While manager Joe Torre said he is still debating who the eleven pitchers will be, “with all the extra players, eleven seems the most reasonable thing to do — to start.” The beneficiary seems likely to be infielder Blake DeWitt, with Torre saying his “chances are better, it’s safe to say that.”
Giants The 2010 Harry S. Jordan Award, for the player in his first big league camp whose performance “best exemplifies the team’s spirit” was given to Darren Ford. He went 10-for-20 with ten runs scored for San Francisco during Cactus League play, before being optioned to the Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Denver Post believes that “the face of sports in Colorado” is now Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, and saying that “Sooner or later, Tulowitzki will join the list of most valuable players to wear a uniform in Colorado.”
