The Daily Show Takes On The All-White Basketball League

↵Plenty of scorn has already been laid on Don “Moose” Lewis’ All-American Basketball Alliance, which uses the thinnest veil possible to attempt to obscure its own racism. Yet with all the indignation the league has received, there’s been little ridicule for such a patently nonsensical idea. Which is why it’s a good thing Lewis wasn’t deterred by the verbal depantsing he received from Bomani Jones. He’s still willing to get press coverage, no matter how satirical it may be.↵

↵In the above segment, Daily Show correspondent Jason Jones does that thing that makes the show great by getting Lewis to give telling and outrageous quotes about his motives. Not that he hasn't looked bad in other interviews, but here Lewis is reduced to projecting bitterness about seeing friends lose positions on the high school basketball team because of what he calls "forced integration from the government". At worst, he reveals the full-on racism he tries to hard to dispel. When a black basketball player in the segment claims he has a whistle, Lewis muses that "he probably stole it from a white player". That has to be what people like Lewis fail to realize when they sign up to do this show; sure, the show will mock you, but mostly they want to see you hang yourself with your own words.↵
