The days of Jake Delhomme in Carolina are seemingly over. FOXSport.com's Jay Glazer is reporting that the Panthers are set to release the quarterback.
Jake Delhomme Reportedly Getting Released By Panthers
While the team has made no official word of the move yet, “several GMs told FOXSports.com that they are hearing Delhomme will be released and is likely to hit the market as early as Friday.”
Delhomme, a 12-year NFL veteran, the past seven of which were spent in Carolina, would become an unrestricted free agent. Assuming this all goes through, Matt Moore, who the team recently tendered at the highest level, will be the new starting quarterback in 2010.
“My wife and I are ecstatic right now,” Moore said recently, according to published reports. “I was surprised. I didn’t know exactly what to expect, to be perfectly honest with you. When my agent called and told me about (the tender) I was really excited and really happy. I think it shows they have a lot of confidence in me, which is reassuring.”
