New Mexico (28-3, 14-2) is atop the standings in the Mountain West Conference, so it was little surprise to see the Lobos take home a handful of recognitions when the league announced its postseason awards on Monday.
2009-10 All-Mountain West Team: New Mexico Wins Player And Coach Of The Year Awards
The league’s nine men’s head coaches, along with a select media panel, picked the all-Conference teams, and named New Mexico’s Darington Hobson, a junior guard, the recipient for both the Player and Newcomer of the year. He’s the first individual to receive both awards in the same season in the MWC.
