People Have Some Funny Ideas About The Word ‘Best’ When It Comes To College Towns

Here’s a jaunty little list of the top ten college sports towns in America. Having never resided more than a half hour’s drive from a major college sports program in my entire life, on principle I cannot stress enough the delights of living in one:

↵You want affordable housing, good schools and a low crime rate. And, of course, proximity to high-level athletics.
↵ ... and you’re right, that sounds pretty sweet. Where are we going?

↵Ann Arbor, Mich., home to the University of Michigan, is a great choice.↵[Thud.]
The article does cop to the tarnish Michigan’s recent football and basketball offerings have put on that whole “high-level athletics” thing, but then goes on to list College Station, Texas, a wee metropolis where the streets are overrun with vampire bats the size of manta rays after dark, as an ideal place for humans to live and raise families and ranks it above Austin, so it’s clearly not to be trusted. Approach with caution.
