UFC 112 Results: Matt Hughes Wins Battle Of Legends Against Renzo Gracie
For the majority of the fight Hughes was able to land very hard leg kicks. Aside from the attack on Renzo’s legs neither man really was able to do much aside from stand at distance and look at each other. Renzo had a few moments where a left or right hand would find its way to Hughes’ face. But in the end the leg kicks from Hughes caught up with Gracie who was knocked down several times by shots to the thigh. At one point he asked Matt to help him back to his feet, so Hughes grabbed his hand and pulled him back to standing.
Finally as the fight was nearing an end Hughes started to unload with punches, eventually knocking down Renzo and forcing referee Herb Dean to step in and put an end to the bout.
It was anything but a pretty fight but Hughes was able to hurt Renzo with strikes whenever he was willing to let his punches and kicks go. It will be very interesting to see where the UFC uses these two men going forward.
