This hasn’t been the best start ever for Milton Bradley or the Seattle Mariners. Bradley’s 1-for-17 through Friday, and his only hit was a two-run homer against Oakland on Wednesday. That gave the M’s a lead Bradley squandered by misplaying a long fly that turned into Kurt Suzuki’ game-winning double. Seattle’s 1-4 after a loss to Texas last night; only the winless Astros have a worse record.Oh, and then there was how Bradley, a former Ranger, saluted the crowd in Arlington on Friday.

That would be exactly what you think it is. And it’s not good. It would be absurdly premature to write off Seattle because of an obscene gesture and a slow start -- though the M’s haven’t been winning, they’ve yet to play at home, lost two one-run games and have Felix Hernandez on the bump today -- but it’s hard not to get a little worried about whether Bradley will keep his cool when he’s flipping off fans.
Seattle has to hope Bradley’s game returns. For that to happen, Bradley may have to just play baseball instead of getting wrapped up in being baseball’s “bad guy.”
