Video: Rogue Seed Disrupts Mickelson’s Putt, Sums Up Mickelson’s Career

On the third green, Phil Mickelson had a medium-range putt to tie Lee Westwood for the lead. But then there was the seed.

It’s a great metaphor for Mickelson’s career: He has everything lined up, and then something (cough, Tiger, cough) plops down in his way, leaving him in close proximity to where he wanted to be. Mickelson refusing to pull up and step away from the putt is perfect for his often impetuous play, too.
In all, the Masters hasn’t quite been classic on this Sunday, but a couple of aces on the 16th (Nathan Green and Ryan Moore), some fantastic iron shots from Mickelson, Fred Couples and Lee Westwood, a fairway eagle by Tiger, and the steady, stealthy climb of K.J. Choi is setting up for a close back nine.
