Blue Jays Win, Complete Three-Game Sweep Of Orioles

Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Jose Bautista's two-run home run in the eighth helped the Toronto Blue Jays complete a three-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles with a 5-2 win.

Alex Gonzalez hit a pair of solo home runs while Edwin Encarnacion added a solo homer for the Blue Jays, who have won five straight since dropping their opener.

Shawn Marcum threw six innings and was charged with two runs on eight hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Casey Janssen (3-0) threw a perfect seventh inning to get the win.

Miguel Tejada and Luke Scott each drove in a run for the Orioles, who have lost five of six to start the season.

Kevin Millwood (0-1) was saddled with the loss as he gave up four runs -- one earned -- on five hits with six strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings.

Trailing by a run in the eighth with two outs, John McDonald hit a sharp grounder to third that Tejada misplayed to reach first base. Bautista then gave his team the lead with a shot over the left field wall and Gonzalez followed that with a homer to left for a 4-2 advantage.

Scott Downs took the mound for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the eighth and set the Orioles down in order.

Encarnacion gave Toronto another run in the ninth when he crushed a 3-1 pitch into the left field stands for a 5-2 advantage.

Kevin Gregg gave up a leadoff single to Matt Wieters in the ninth, but got Ty Wiggington to hit into a double play and struck out Nolan Reimold to end the game and pick up his second save of the season.

Baltimore plated two runners in the first to take a 2-0 lead. With one out, Adam Jones hit an infield single and Nick Markakis followed with a walk. Tejada then drove in Jones with a double and a Scott groundout plated Markakis.

Jones tripled to start the third, but the next three batters recorded outs to leave him stranded there.

Toronto got on the board in the fourth with a leadoff home run from Gonzalez to make it a 2-1 game.

The Blue Jays got a leadoff single from McDonald in the sixth, but he was stranded there as Millwood retired the next three batters.
