More and more folks are coming out with reaction to the trade that sent Santonio Holmes from Pittsburgh to New York.
Steelers Wanted To Send A Message With Santonio Holmes Trade
ESPN’s Rachel Nichols has spoken with several players regarding the trade and the words “shock” and “surprise” came up often. In fact, Nichols reported one player’s wife first saw the news on the ESPN crawl and called her husband into the kitchen. The player said she must have seen it wrong because he didn’t believe it.
Well, believe it and here’s why:
- 2006: Arrested for disorderly conduct and domestic violence
- 2008: Arrested for possession of marijuana
- 2010: Sued for assault in Orlando
- 2010: Reportedly will be suspended 4 games for violation of substance abuse policy
Hardly the image the Steelers want to portray, Nichols reports.
They really wanted to send a message of what is and isn’t acceptable in the organization. Head coach Mike Tomlin said last week that the Steelers organization holds them to a higher standard.
