Pro Football Talk reported over the weekend that former Steelers WR Santonio Holmes would be suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. That’s believed to be a major factor in the trade that sent Holmes to the Jets.
NFL Expected To Announce Santonio Holmes Suspension Today
Now, FOX’s Jay Glazer is reporting that the league will make the announcement on Holmes today.
Two months after he was drafted by the Steelers in 2006, Holmes was busted on a marijuana charge so this will be his second offense in the NFL.
That means the announced suspension should be for four games.
Another reason his value in the trade market plummeted -- one more screw-up and he’ll be suspended for an entire season.
That 5th round pick isn’t looking so bad now.
