Edmonton Oilers defenseman Sheldon Souray demanded a trade from the team on Monday, telling Mark Spector of Rogers’ Sportsnet that “it’s a management thing” and that both sides have “soured” on each other.
Oilers’ Sheldon Souray Demands A Trade; Coach Pat Quinn Not Exactly Fond Of That
↵Those at The Copper & Blue, SBN’s Oilers blog, weren’t really angry about the words -- in fact, they even understand where he’s coming from -- but the biggest problem they see is that it kills Souray’s trade value.
↵It’s safe to say, though, that Oilers coach Pat Quinn isn’t as understanding, saying the following on Tuesday to the Edmonton Sun:
↵↵“I’m one of those guys that if you don’t want to play here, don’t screw around, get the hell out.”
↵[..]
↵“If you have one guy sitting over there who doesn’t bloody well want to be here, how do you build trust, how do you have a team? You don’t.
↵“Sheldon knows how I feel about that sort of thing.”
↵↵And now we do, too. Safe to say Sheldon Souray won’t be an Oiler next season, eh?
