The NFL is on its way back, and it’s a lot closer than you might think. Training camp opens as early as this week, with teams around the league beginning their quests for immortality in the 2026 season. The Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks will be the first to kick off camp on Friday, July 17 with their rookies getting a full week of work before the veterans need to report and join them.

This is common practice, with the majority of teams having different dates for rookies and vets to report, both to emphasize more one-on-one training for the young players, while also giving the veterans a little more time off before the season kicks off in earnest.

The next big date on the NFL calendar is August 6 for the Hall of Fame game between the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals. It will be the first time we get to see live-fire football in the offseason, and the game is going to be back before we even realize it.
