Baylor’s Ekpe Udoh Expected To Declare For NBA Draft

Shot-block machine Ekpe Udoh will announce that he will forgo his final season at Baylor and declare for the NBA Draft at a press conference at 6 PM EST on Tuesday, according to Gary Parrish of CBS Sports.

Given his relatively advanced age, the soon-to-be 23 year-old Udoh was widely expected to leave school early, after a breakout season that saw him lead Baylor to the Elite Eight. The 6’10”, 240-pound Udoh led the Big 12 with 3.7 blocks per game this season, in addition to his 13.9 points and 9.8 rebounds. While Udoh had been known for his shot-blocking prowess before he transferred to Baylor from Michigan, he added a face-up game, with a decent handle for a big, that makes him an intriguing offensive option as a power forward in the NBA.

Udoh figures to be a late lottery selection in the draft, most likely somewhere between 12 and 15. ESPN’s Chad Ford ranks him as the 13th-best prospect in the class, as does Draft Express, while NBADraft.net has him 21st.
