Video: Jerry Jones Slurs Interesting Comments About Tim Tebow, Bill Parcells

Late Tuesday, Deadspin posted a grainy video likely from an iPhone camera of Jerry Jones sounding slightly slurred and saying some interesting stuff about Bill Parcells and Tim Tebow. (NSFW warning, as there is some naughty language from Double-J.)↵

↵↵A few points must be made here: 1. A lot of people are playing this up like Jones was disparaging Tebow -- and maybe he is -- but I didn’t take it that way. When he says “he’d never get on the field,” I can only assume he’s referencing the fact that there’s no way Tebow would play ahead of Tony Romo.

2. You can’t really make the same defense of Jones’ comments about Parcells. That ... yeah, that’s probably not good, and it tells you a lot about that whole relationship. To try and deduce potentially drunk logic is something of a futile exercise, so maybe I’m wasting my time, but Parcells was brought in to essentially excite a dormant fan base and maybe sell tickets? (Because he’s obviously not going to be selling jerseys. Maybe lovely pleated khakis, but not jerseys.)↵↵I can’t imagine there will be any sort of real follow-up other than “no comment” or maybe some backpedalling where Jones talks about what great respect he has for Parcells and how it was all taken out of context. Either way, it’s good to know that even for a brief time, the real Jerry Jones wasn’t that far off from this NSFW portrayal.↵
