Are You Reaaaddd-dddaaaayy For Marlins Baseball!

↵The hallmark of wretchedness in pop music is identified by whether Slate will stick up for a horrible act years after it’s officially washed up. It was true with Limp Bizkit, and also with Creed, who released a comeback album last fall after the group had a falling out when lead singer Scott Stapp ruined their platinum-record run with alcoholism and a pill problem.↵↵Creed’s comeback was hardly a smash comparable to their salad days, so maybe that’s why Stapp is hitching his wagon to the smash phenomenon that is the Florida Marlins. He sang the National Anthem at Sun Life Stadium prior to the team’s home opener earlier this week, and he’s also composed a take-off of one of his own tracks as a rally song for the Marlins. Titled “Marlins Will Soar”, it has all the overtones of uplift and religiosity that made Creed own pop radio for a good three year span. No doubt this will usher in a period where the Marlins achieve massive popularity but are scorned by baseball experts.↵
