Georgia fans have been waiting impatiently for the Bulldogs to give them any idea who the front-runner was for the vacant starting quarterback job. They thought redshirt freshman Zach Mettenberger would be part of that announcement. Well, they got news on Mettenberger today but not the news they were hoping for.
Georgia Freshman QB Zach Mettenberger Dismissed From Program
University of Georgia redshirt freshman quarterback Zach Mettenberger has been dismissed from the Bulldog football team according to a Sunday announcement by UGA head coach Mark Richt.
According to Richt, the dismissal is a result of violation of team rules.
A graduate of Oconee County High School in Watkinsville, Ga., Mettenberger had been issued a minimum one-game suspension by Richt following an alcohol-related arrest in March.
That alcohol-related arrest has to do with underage consumption of alcohol and possession of false identification.
Redshirt freshman Aaron Murray and Logan Gray remain the candidates for the starting job. For more info and updates on the news, check out Dawg Sports.
