The 2010 Boston Marathon, the 114th running of perhaps the world’s best-known race, is underway: the elite women began their journey to downtown Boston at 9:35 a.m. ET, while the elite men are set start at 10:00 a.m.
Boston Marathon: Elite Men Start At 10:00 A.M., Race Shown Live On Universal Sports
It’s sunny and 47 degrees at the gun -- the coldest temperature in the past 12 years, but a perfect day for running 26.2 miles.
The Boston Globe has an interactive map, showing the course from the start Hopkinton to Natick to Newton -- and the hills of Newton, featuring Heartbreak Hill, the last of seven hills, ranging from mile 16 to mile 21 -- all the way to the finish line at Kenmore Square.
If you want to watch, the race is being televised lived on Universal Sports (and also streaming live on the network’s website).
Schedule:
Elite Men (and everyone else): 10:00 a.m.
Elite Women: 9:35 a.m.
Wheelchair Men and Women: 9:25 a.m.
