Yes, it is only April 19. And yes, it’s only 13 games into the season (just 8.02 of the 162-game season), but, as DRaysBay points out, it’s never, ever a bad thing to place at least some level of importance on being six games up on the Red Sox after completing a four-game sweep in Boston.
It’s Still Early, But The Rays Have Already Built A Six-Game Lead Over Boston
It’s no secret that both teams will experience some regression along the way. The Red Sox will get healthier, better, and also have the ability to pull of a big time trade at any point. The Rays will have their struggles at some point (hopefully not soon and not prolonged), but that’s why putting a six-game cushion between them and us is a wonderful thing. The Rays have started their first road trip of 2010 with a 7-0 mark with three to go in Chicago. There’s some tough lefties coming up which makes this winning streak that much more important.
