FOX 28 in South Bend is picking up on the shocking and incredibly sad story that Notre Dame recruit Matt James has passed away after reportedly falling off of a balcony. James, 17, has been described as one of the “jewels” of Brian Kelly’s first recruiting class at Notre Dame.
Notre Dame Recruit Matt James Was One Of The ‘Jewels’ Of Notre Dame’s Recruiting Class
James was an amazing lineman. He was a first team All-American by USA Today. He played in the US Army All-American game in San Antonio, Texas. He went to high school powerhouse St. Xavier in Cincinnati. Along with Christian Lombard, they were the jewels of Coach Kelly’s first recruiting class and thought to be huge building blocks for the future of the Notre Dame Football program.
The football field is the last thing on the minds of everyone close to him, according to FOX 28.
Forget about a young man who was a football star. This story is about a son, a teammate and a very popular high school student who happens to be a prized Notre Dame Football recruit.
This is a sad story to report. Our thoughts go out to the James family.
